Hello amazing PAS families and welcome to third grade! I am so excited for the year before us and can not wait to get started on our journey.
Before we dive into the math and science and so much reading that we will be doing this year. I would like to share a little about myself.
First of all, I live in Clearwater, FL with my husband Eric and my two amazing children Layla and Logan (who also attend PAS in 8th and 4th grade). I graduated with honors from St. Petersburg College in 2017 with my Bachelor's in Elementary Education. During my own educational journey I also received my Reading Endorsement and my ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) endorsement. I am also a member of the KDP Honors Society which recognizes the top 20% of graduating educators. I am currently pursuing my Master's degree of Educational Leadership and will graduate in the Spring from this program.
Through the exceptional program offered by SPC, I had the privilege to work with students from Second to Fifth grade. During this time I was able to see how I fit with the different age groups and decide where I belonged in the grand scheme that is Elementary School. I must say that I have found my home with Plato Academy and I have found my niche in 3rd grade.
As far as my classroom goes, we will work hard and play hard. It is my personal opinion (along with several educational experts) that no person can be "ON" 100% of the time. In my classroom your student will learn and grow academically but we will be taking stretch breaks, go noodle breaks, even game breaks in order to reset our minds and increase our ability to retain information.
I have an open communication policy and hope that each and every one of you will utilize it. I am always available by email, phone, or in person. If you need to speak with me and I am not available right away, I will return phone calls before the close of the business day and emails within 24 hours.
Although things may look very different this year when we return, I will be doing my best to make sure that your student feels safe and secure in my classroom.
I am very much looking forward to an Epic 2021-2022 school year and can't wait to get started.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Thomas
